Hello all,

Just tried to run S.T.O.R.M which is a cd rom game from 1995 by American Softworks Corporation/Virtual Studio and I couldn't get any video.

It appears to use Univbe 5.1a, and when I run UVCONFIG it detects a S3 TRIO64 2mb internal DAC, but when I run storm.exe I can hear sound, but the screen is blank.

Pressing keys like enter shows me that the game is working, but I just don't get any display at all. Just a completely blank screen.

Funny thing is that if I run VBETEST it runs through all its tests perfectly. Seems incongruous that the video in the game wouldn't work if it uses the Univbe library.

Thanks,

Cyber

Then it's likely that video playback is not linked to univbe - it may be just that video playback won't work - wouldn't be the first game. Need For Speed had that too.

On the cd there's also a windows version so I installed win3.1 in dosbox, with video and sound drivers, and the win3.1 version of S.T.O.R.M. works. Pretty sweet!

Only strange thing is that after installing win32s in windows 3.1 that dosbox blew (dosbox has generated an error and will be closed...) while installing freecell. No problem though I just restarted dosbox.

The one thing I really *love* about dosbox is being able to "reboot" dosbox by closing it and restarting. Takes about 2 seconds where back in the day on a real machine would take forever.

Thanks to the dosbox authors!
