Well, I just tried Wing Commander Armada (floppy version) running on DOSBox 0.70. I also installed joystick/ipx patch (armadadb.exe instead of armada), as well as WCA joystick calibration patch from Origin (the .zip file that contains the file Aj.exe and new version of armada.exe and armadacd.exe).
Well, when I ran the game using armadadb.exe, the joystick behaved erratically; when I pulled the joystick to the right, the ship just did not respond, but when I pulled the joystick to the left, the ship just kept turning to the left even after I release the joystick.
I then used armada.exe instead of armadadb.exe, and the joystick worked properly this time. However, the joystick was never centered properly; it was always easier to pull the joystick left than to the right.
I then reinstalled Armada from scratch; getting rid of both the joystick/ipx patch and Origin's joystick calibration patch, as well as setting timed to false. Now the joystick works like charm! I haven't narrowed down what the real problem is, by the way, but anyone ever got similar experience with Wing Commander Armada on DOSBox 0.70?
Never thought this thread would be that long, but now, for something different.....
