I downloaded the design and made some cosmetic changes to the PCB. I have replaced parts that are not available. I am sending printed circuit boards to be made by JLCPCB. If the creator of the project is interested, I can send the project ...

The assembled card works great, I found only 1 error on the schematic.

What was the error you found?

Btw, looking for an opinion,

I have a isa speedstar 64 (oem) and it glitches with 2mb installed.

I want to fix it, I’m leaning toward the gpu being damaged. But the possibility of the 1st mb maybe having unused areas that are then used when 2mb is installed crossed my mind.

I believe the card was damaged when the previous owner installed some ram chips that appeared to be haphazardly RIPED from a donor card of some sort. It was very sloppy work that broke several legs and possibly had some others shorted.

Anyway, I’m wondering if I should order and replace the first mb first or go straight to replacing the gpu to fix it? And also, where is the best place to find said gpu?

A memtest86+ for gpus would be handy here.

Although I found mine the hard way, in a recycle bin, attached to a diamond speedstar 64 graphics card.

I see many versions of the gd5434. Are some for pci I take it? Which is the best one?

I don’t have time to research right now, but I bet you can’t go wrong using the one in the picture above.

There is VMTCE but it requires VBE 2.0 support

There's also X-VESA, seems to work with any VBE version.

Nie tylko, jak widzicie, w tym trudność, że nie zdołacie wejść na moją górę, lecz i w tym, że ja do was cały zejść nie mogę, gdyż schodząc, gubię po drodze to, co miałem donieść.

Has anyone tried to build the 4MB version of this card? Any BIOS issues?

I messaged him in January, the message is still sitting in my outbox, which means he hasn't been on here for the better part of the year. I think you're safe to go ahead and build the original. I'll probably get around to doing it one of these days. Gotta butcher a PCI card to get the chip off.

The pci version of the gpu works on isa? That’s wild.

Yessir... It's supposed to be one of the fastest ISA VGA cards...

I was running my Orchid Kelvin 64 ISA GD5434 in a Pentium 60 system for a bit, as best choice over the two crappy PCI cards I had which were a GD5430 maybe by Expertcolor, I've seen better ones, all Cirrus logic seem to be plus or minus 30% depending on how cheap the implementation was, and a Trident TVGA4200 or 4400, PCI, was definitely a TVGA, the earlier TGUIs were faster and the TGUI 9680 a lot faster. When one of those became available it beat the 5434 so that went in. So yah, fairly fast, not as good as top 20% VLB or PCI from middle of 90s, but better than the middling ones.

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

Cool, I might go and order a board through JLC, I see there is a good supply of chips on ebay. Even TSENG chips are available too, would be great to build a ET4000 card, since these are getting hard to find too.
