Hello everyone!
First, let me start with: I'm aware of this thread: VGA Capture Thread
Second: I want to focus on Retro PCs, not Game Consoles (nothing wrong with that, I just don't have any).
Having said that, I'm in the hunt for a VGA to HDMI or DVI scaler that has Audio (line-in and Optical or SPDIF) and an option to disable the on-screen input notification when the video resolution changes -> a HUGE plus for me!
Why?
1. The scalers I've tested that have the option to disable the input notification do NOT support 720x400 @ 70Hz
2. The capture devices I've tested they all have noisy line-ins. I don't want to get too deep into the "Capture Devices" subject, unless you consider it necessary, no problem.
3. I want to have options.
So far, this is what I've tested:
A. Gefen VGA w/Audio to HDMI Scaler (EXT-VGAAUD-2-HDMIS): supports 720x400 @ 70Hz, BUT the input notification can't be disabled.
It has an Optical in/out (which is great) and Line in/out (BTW, a bit noisy on the analog side).
B. Gefen VGA to DVI Scaler (EXT-VGA-DVI-SC): does NOT support 720x400 @ 70Hz, but the input notification CAN be disabled.
No audio for obvious reasons.
C. Gefen Multi Format Processor (EXT-MFP): Same as B.
Analog Audio inputs are super clean.
There has to be something out there that can do all this, am I being too picky?
I would like to avoid "no name" scalers, unless they're spectacular.
Thanks in advance for your comments!
