Hello everybody!
I would like to share with you my hobby project.
I am working on some videos of comparison several retro x86 hardware from 386 to current hardware.
My plan is to have tested at least 32 microarchitectures of CPUs .
These CPUs ( in my collection) will be tested (32 CPUs in 32 years and 32bit test):
1990 80386 386DX 40Mhz 1993 80486 UMC green/486 1995 P6 Pentium PRO 180 1996 AMD K5 K5 75 1997 pentium 1 pentium 1999 AMD K6 K6-2 2000 P6 Pentium III 1GHZ 2001 Athlon K7 AMD Athlon XP 2001 Nehemiah VIA C3 667 2001 transmeta TM5700 2004 NetBurst Pentium 4 1M 2004 P6 variant Pentium M 725 2005 5x86 AMD Geode LX800 2006 Esther Via C7D 2006 Athlon (K8) AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ 2008 Bonnell Atom 330 1.6 2010 Phenom II (K10) Phenom II X2 555 BE 2010 core2 E6800 2010 nehalem I5-650 2011 Brazos AMD E350 2011 Via Nano X2 U42 2012 Buldozer/Piledriver FX-6300 2013 Silvermont Celeron J1900 2014 haswell i5-4690 2015 broadwell i5-5675C 2015 skylake i5-6500 2017 Excavator Athlon X4 950 2017 ZEN 1+ Ryzen 1200AF 2019 ZEN 2 Ryzen 3600X 2021 rocketlake 11400F 2022 alderlake G6900 2022 ZEN 3 Ryzen 5600
To see progress of some computation using mainly legacy x86 instructions.
Next plan is deep-dive analyzing of cache behaviour.
An example is attached as screeshot of CPU without cache 3D graph - 386DX (note: cache is on the motherboard)
But my first video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WluogciStHo) of vintage 386 is just for fun 😀 Have fun!
If are you insterested, thank you. Michal
