😵 I have version .72 dosbox, and I have the rare pleasure having a cdrom version of system shock. I know it works because I've gotten the install to put the files on my hard drive. The problem is I am getting an illegal error code

illegal command: : f:\cdrom\cdshock.exe

I did double check that both a cdrom drive mounted, and I HOPE HERE the place where the files I installed from the disk is also mounted.

mount d f:\ -t cdrom -usecd 0 -ioctl
mount c C:\games
It recognizes both spots because it give the directories for each, but I can't get it to load... 'newbie banging head into brink wall to make headache go away'

simple answer your probably thinking it through... got to be ON the file in order to load it. Everything is set right

c:\games

type cd\ (and the file name) and it should load up from there!

No, everything is _not_ set right.

First: wrong forum. This is a DOSBox question.

Second:

mount d f:\ -t cdrom -usecd 0 -ioctl

You are mounting your physical CD drive "f" as virtual drive "d" in DOSBox.

illegal command: : f:\cdrom\cdshock.exe

The batchfile that starts the game looks for the CD-ROM drive with the letter "f".

See the problem? The solution would be to reinstall SS, or to change "CYB.CFG" and "CDSHOCK.BAT" accordingly.

okay that did seem to work but now it locks up If I try from C:

current setup as follows:

mount f f:\ -t cdrom -usecd 0
mount c c:\games
