Hi everyone,

Just stumbled upon an interesting site/link.
http://www.sabrizain.org/startrek/lcars.html

It never really crossed my mind, but both Windows 2.x and the LCARS interface are from 1987.
This is fascinating when you think about it consciously.

By 1987 it was still common to see green or amber screens, big MFM/RLL hard disks rumbling inside PCs..
Or electric type writers, Super 8 and slide projectors and so on.

On the other end of the spectrum, there were Atari STs, Amigas and Macintoshs, as well, of course.

The latter is interesting, because LCARS was invented on that platform, essentially.
Programs like Adobe Illustrator, MacroMind Director, Supermac's Pixel Paint and Paracomp's Swivel 3D
were being run on a Macintosh II in the early days, if I understand correctly.

From what I believe to have read from another source, System 5/6 wasn't really designed with colour graphics in mind back then,
so the software was in an experimental state, still, essentially. Color QuickDraw was very new in 1987/88.

Here are a few links that will tell some details about it:
