Hi, noob 2 this 4um, don't know how much I'll be on here, just did this to ask a question, but I like a lot of old games, so who knows? My question (or request or whatever) is simple: MODE (or something like it) to change the appearance of DOSBox (what I really want is 80x50 text, but I'd like access to others too). I have Win95 MODE, I mounted the C: drive (am I alone in that still making me smirk? 😊), changed to the dir with MODE.COM in it, tried it, and it said that it can't run in DOS mode. WTF? I thought there was no more DOS mode (I have Vista), and anyway wasn't DOSBox or the NTVDM supposed to take care of that? 😕 I don't like using 80x25 in full screen on this relatively large screen. Info much appreciated (even if I have to track down an ancient program). TIA

Wait for a new DOSBox version and hunt down "tm.exe".

The reason for a new DOSBox version is that currently the text output routines don't handle more than 25 lines well.

thanks
if anyone else has a solution, it would be appreciated, but I'm not climbing the walls over it, although I also want ANSI.SYS-type control (I like to set the text color to light green so it's all Matrix-y or Tron-ish 😎 )

I've pretty much gotten all the info I wanted from `Moe` and the thread "text boxes with more than 25 lines and the internal ANSI support". You can post on here if you think it will help someone. 😀

If you need an excellent ANSI program that runs in DOSBox, try ANSIPLUS from Kristofer Sweger at:

http://www.sweger.com/ansiplus

It's a really nice program and the full version is now free.

I used this to correct a color problem in DOSBox until HAL9000 found the problem in the 4bpp SVGA (M_LIN4 graphics) mode and provided a fix.

thank you
I forgot to say I'm not going to post on this thread again, but, again, if you think it will help someone, please feel free. 😀
