My board IS indeed a workstation server board with two pci-x.
But again, think what you want, no problem with that.
No willing to explain the difference between pci and pci-x.

Here the diagram of the serverworks chipset. The Pci64 slots are directly connected and not linked to regular pci bus.

Could always run lspci -vvv on your system and look for a "PCI-X Bridge Device" entry in the capabilities list of the host PCI bridge(s). No entry, no PCI-X. Personally, I don't think any Pentium 3 system that isn't a Compaq ProLiant DL760 Generation 1 has them. "PCI-X System Architecture" from MindShare Inc is a good book to learn about the bus if you don't like how dense the PCI-SIG technical documents are.

Yes your board uses CIOB2 IO bridges which are PCI. The next generation boards used CIOB-X for PCI-X v1.0 and the ones after that used CIOB-X2 for PCI-X v2.0.

I asked because I just ran some test on my P3TDLE (dual 1.4) and my matrox parhelia 256 pci ("pci-x") with stock 3DMark01 to compare to your results:

OS: Win2k SP4 & DX9.0c

  1. 64 bit / 66 Mhz = 6068
  2. 64 bit / 33 Mhz = 5137
  3. 32 bit / 33 Mhz = 4377 ( one of the regular pci slots and not one of the top 2 "pci-x" / pci64 slots)

While this gpu isnt anywhere close to as powerful as the ones you tested I thought you might be interested in the 66Mhz to 33Mhz results and threw in the 32bit result to compare to the 64bit result just because.

The results are useful for indeed, actually that board with the 8112 bridge “feels” much more fast than a regular dual socket board with AGP.

For some reason I can't get any video card identified on my Windows XP setup past basic SVGA card when using PCI-X slots, they are no even shown in the device manager. But regular PCI actually scales pretty high, all things considered. especially in the Nature test, which is geometry heavy.

I experienced the same problem with a STL2.
It depends on compatibility between bridge and chipset on the motherboard.

Oh well, in that case that motherboard is useless. Good thing I've acquired it as a bonus to Tualatins and bunch of other stuff that came with it.

This is the topic I opened before I gave up with the STL2.
STL2 dual S370 board + pciexpress/bridge GPUs attempts

The 370DLE had better compatibility.
You can find others with the same problem, sometimes a bridge card won’t work in pci64 slots [when coupled with a video card].

I have no issues with the bridge itself, but any video card I install into it is not recognized as Plug&Play device, so I can't install drivers. That being said, AIDA, HWINFO and other similar utilities fully recognize that video card is installed and identify it normally.

I had similar sounding problem with my card. I had to turn off MPS 1.4 mode in bios so it would run in 1.1 mode.

MPS 1.4 would seem to assign the resources to the bus and then the bridge chip on the Matrox would not be able to find any free resources for its bridge chip.

Never solved the issue so I sold the STL2. I am very happy with the 370DLE.
Indeed it seemed to have issues with vga connected to the bridge, also for me, my statement was incorrect.
