Hi, sorry my english

I building a "definitive" DOS computer, pentium 3 1ghz, nvidia 2mx

One thing i want is a windows just for emulation retro consoles/computers, like zsnes, neoragex, UNZ, etc etc

In Windows 2000 nvidia 61.77 drivers, i can get low resolutions at 120hz, then i can have great scanlines with good bright, for example 256x240@120

In Windows 98 i can create 256x240 no problem, but no way to force 120hz, always make a doublescan 60hz resolution, it seems the driver or windows? force doublescan resolutions

The attachment IMG_20230925_115434.jpg is no longer available

I think is pretty clear the difference, any ideas guys? i already check register, the nvidia inf, but i dont find anything about this

thanks

did you try the software "powerstrip"?

Yes, sorry, forget to say

I add resolutions via registry and powerstrip, same results, all resolutions are doublescan even if 120hz (convert 120>60 doublescan)

what happens if you try some obscure refresh rate, f.ex. 125 Hz?

Yes i tried diferent refresh rates, but everything is dublescaned with low refresh rates

In win2k, everything from 96hz and aprox the range 144-384, is not doublescaned and i get scanlines at high refresh rates. I cant test above 384 because my CRT is out of range is 14" and 53khz max

Have you tried turning off DDC and restarting your computer? On all my CRTs under Windows 98, this was required, at least, to get full access to all non-standard modes and the full range of refresh rates supported by the monitor. Also, in the driver settings, there should be a tab (Something like "Analog Display") and detailed settings in it:

Try opening the driver settings and going to this tab _after_ setting the required resolution. And see if the check mark doesn't appear at the bottom? If so, remove it.

Hi thanks i tried everything you say exept DDC. About nvidia panel was first to check every option

I google For DDC and change this

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\Display\0000\DEFAULT]

"DDC"="0"

But no change, because my monitor anyways i think do not have ddc, is just a generic svga, same in win2k, generic 1024x768 svga crt

Must be some place in driver, register, etc to disable windows force all resolutions be doublescan

By the address:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\Display\
is there only "0000"? Are there 0001, 0002 and so on? If yes, change this setting everywhere and reboot.

Yes, the driver definitely solves this. But usually not on its own. The monitor must somehow tell him that this should be done.
Under normal conditions, this behavior is disabled in the settings (See screenshot above). And most likely this needs to be done after setting a specific resolution. What if I try a different driver version? What version of the driver is 98 currently using?

If it doesn’t help, then I don’t know what else could be wrong. Moreover, everything works in Windows 2000...
