I've just recently started setting up some of my older games with dosbox (I can finally play Strife again! x3) but I'm getting mouse troubles in a couple of them. At times, I get mouse lag for no apparent reason, or the mouse seems to skip across the screen. (Not major skipping, just minor skipping.)
I don't believe this is program specific, so much as it is a problem with overdriving FPS. (I had what I consider to be a similar problem with the Half Life engine, wherein my max FPS was set too high. This caused sudden, random spikes in my FPS, which caused the mouse to shoot in whatever direction I was moving it erratically. Setting my max fps back down to 60 solved my jumping mouse problems there.)
So far this has occurred with Warcraft and Blood.
I seemed to get some response from Warcraft by limiting my number of 'cycles' in the config file, but fiddling around with it didn't appear to help Blood at all.
Is there another solution? Say, something that would limit FPS and stop the stuttering? Or do you think I'm completely off base, and the problem is coming from something else?
I'm running windows XP on a fairly decent rig, and have had no other problems with Dos Box that haven't been easily fixable. (I can run Doom III, so it's not that my computer just plain sucks. Can't run D3 on Dosbox of course, since it's not exactly a dos program, but you know what I mean. =P)
Edit: It is also worthy of note that, yes, I did rtfm. I read several m's, as a matter of fact, and none of them solved the f'in problem. x3
Final edit: Fixed it myself. I'll just write up a config for Warcraft that includes the cycle limiting command, and as for blood, I managed to solve the problem there by changing the screen resolution. (Guess it is my computer after all. x.X)
Going to leave this here rather than deleting it, just in case someone has a similar problem, but mark it resolved.
