Hello!
After a long time I managed to put together another setup for windows 98SE.
The board is Abit BE6-II, 256mb ram, Pentium 3 800, Geforce 2 + VooDoo 2 and the beloved Monster Sound.
After installing the drivers, it was time for gaming tests. Half-life runs without a problem, the next game to test was Quake 3.
And here is where the problem arises, both in version 1.11 and after applying patch 1.16n there is an A3D option in the menu, but after trying to enable it I have a message:
"failed
shutting down A3d....ok
initializing DirectSound
locked hardware. ok"

I have directx 7.0a installed

What could be the cause?

If I remember correctly, only version 1.0 of the game (no patches applied) and the demo version work properly with Aureal A3D 2.0.
Maybe you could try that.

Nah, A3D 2.0 works fine on Quake 3 patched to 1.17.

It was removed in the next patch, which is 1.25.
