Can't remember the exact settings as this was tested "years" ago 🤣 Whatever were the settings they were the same for all cards.

I still need to define the default setup. Might even use the 1MB stick after all 😉

Requests here!

A snippet as I want to redo all the benchmarks...

Very nice start.

You are using 1/4 ISA divider, yes? Does the screen refresh affect numbers? Are you going to use a 1MB cache stick when you retest?

Fast ISA cards should get around 45FPS in 3DBench with a 1/2 clock divider at 33MHz.
CL-5429 (1997), Trident 8900D-R (1997)

ISA Tridents have no windows acceleration

Thanks.

Strange that gGD5434 benefits a lot from 2mb in windows but not the ATI Mach. Maybe the CL enables kind of interleaving then.
Edit: ah yes it’s from 1 -> 2 mb and the other from 2 -> 4mb

I can provide a small benchmarks accelerator vs. non-accelerator in W95. Quite impressive I'd say especially as conducted on a low end PC. Office95 will make much more fun now 😀

- 386SX/27,5
- WD90c30 vs GD5428. Both at 1024x768x256

All later chipsets have some sort of interleaving. Mach64 too. Only Mach64 VRAM already has 2MB of memory and with 4MB the interleaving stays at 2-way. So performance doesn't change.

- Finally there are no (or I couldnt find them) real benchmarks available showing the GDI 2D performance of ISA cards under e.g. W95 via Winbench, Wintach, Wintune oder whatever

Would this one do?

Another benchmark from me:

On my 386sx I compared the Gd5428 with GD5434 2d win acceleration. Although the tech capabilities are much more advanced on the 5434 the 386sx is holding back any performance increases. Yes in some theoretical thruput yes (maybe due to the 64Bit onboard mappings) but in all real world benches as eg wintach only some slight % to be seen.
