i worked out the syntax via trial and error and yes i was doing it all correctly except for the syntax. you were the closest to providing the right syntax by saying not to have a : but you never said what i WAS meant to have there and i believe the dosbox wiki is out of date and i could not find relevant info in any readme that came with dosbox. also to note is http://forums.transfusion-game.com/viewtopic.php?t=1149 does not talk about setting up dosbox for people who have a router... it talks about using hamachi which i hate 😜

i was hosting correctly but didn't have the right syntax for joining. once i worked that out i was able to test blood out without dosbox closing immediately on errors and debug the issue further. dukonnector sets dosbox up to close if a error occurs thus never gave me time to see the issue blood it self was having.

ipxnet connect 123.456.789.023:19000 [doesn't work at all]
ipxnet connect 123.456.789.023 [works but times out due to lack of server port]
ipxnet connect 123.456.789.023 19000 [works]

so i just had to host on my port thats open in my router and they just had to join and it all worked great except for the 420ms ping >.>
