I have DTK 8Mhz XT clone and wonder if there is a simple way (e.g., soldering a couple of wires on the back) to add connection to reset button. The button can be used in open or closed circuit mode.

Er, according to your own link. JP1, just next to the keyboard connector, is for a reset switch.

Have you tried using that yet?

Sorry, forgot to mention, JP1 does nothing at all when shorted. In fact, the motherboards boots just fine with a jumper on it.
