I don't know what you want to test, but both the rig from the linked thread and one with a modded Tillamook on a MVP3 mb with cache are running here.

Was curious about the response from the chip when intel bf2 was pulled high. Changing bf0, bf1.
From what I recall, intel bf2 basically defaults to pull down when floating.
And when bf2 is pulled down bf0,1 provide 133-233 mhz options.
But when intel bf2 is pulled high the chip always is at 266 no matter what bf0,1 are set to.
If someone can verify that. Not with my setup atm.
Hi guys.
Does anyone know if the Tillamook 266mhz will work on a Asus p5a-b ?
Had a guy that made the mods on the cpu for me but no luck getting it to post.
Show picture of mods are, update, bios, have you verified the voltage is correct
I'm thinking of modding one of my Tillamook 266 CPUs, but after skimming through the thread, it's still unclear to me if the 4x multiplier mod would actually lock it to 4x (as in, without the possibility of selecting lower multipliers, which would be unacceptable to me).
FYI, I'd like to use it on an Asus TX97-XE (430TX ATX board) that I just repaired, which does not have a 4x setting. This board is rock solid at 83 MHz FSB, which means that 333 MHz is achievable with an unlocked 4x multi, but I absolutely need those lower multipliers as well.

Umm, I believe if you follow the pic guide I modified and posted some pages back you will be able to use all supported on ss7 mobos, but it will probably be 4x all the time on s7 mobos.
Look in my sig for projects that can add ss7 functionality to your mobo.
The processor shim may be a good one for you.

The 4x multiplier is toggled with the intel BF2 cpu pin. Which is actually different from what super socket 7 motherboards expect to be the BF2 pin.
See 243571-002.pdf linked in this topic, page 18: Tillamook- Aiming For The Stars!
--> ISA Soundcard Overview // Doom MBF 2.04 // SetMul
The mod links intel bf2 to ss7 amd/cyrix bf2 which is why I said a ss7 mobo would drive bf2 properly if modded how I described in that modified pic guide.
Thanks guys, will try my luck and see how it goes. 😀

Well, made it work, but not how I had hoped. In my case, the red connection "L2 (required on some boards)" actually prevented the system from posting ("----" on the post analyzer card).
Also, I'm now stuck with the 4x multiplier 😢 . But, man, it sure is fast at 333 MHz, even when running on the 430TX chipset! My particular chip is perfectyl stable at this frequency @ 2.1V.
Will dig deeper when I get the chance.

That's 83 fsb? Everything must be crazy fast then, if IDE controller etc holds up to that 41 MHz pci
Please use the "quote" option if asking questions to what I write - it will really up the chances of me noticing 😀

Yeah, it's amazing to see games like NFS 4 High Stakes being extremely playable at this frequency (in conjunction with a Voodoo 3 PCI).

Most ppga I’ve seen can do 400 at 2-2.1

Yeah, it's very likely that it also works fine at 2.0, but I just went with 2.1, because the CPU is still stone cold at this voltage. In fact, I'm thinking of making this my first 100% passively cooled build.
Later Edit: Yep, confirmed stable at 2.0V. I was just lazy and went straight to 2.1V. 😀

Cpu being cool doesn’t mean the voltage is good.
But 2-2.1 is fine. Wouldn’t go much higher though.

In my experience, they are very closely linked. I've yet to see an overvolted CPU (be it retro or modern) that stays 'cool'.

Uhm, 2.0V is more than fine. It's the official/in-spec voltage for the 266 MHz Tillamook. 😀
