I came across some documentation and patch files in my archive that might be of interest to folks using old Helix Software products (Hurricane, Netroom3, Multimedia Cloaking). I pulled these files off of the Helix FTP server over ten years ago, and I was unable to find any current mirrors for these files in the Wayback Machine or on any Internet sites. Hurricane? Didn't McAfee sell that for a while?

They did sell Hurricane 98 which was a later version of Hurricane for Win9x.

Netroom3 is an expanded version of the Memmaker program that was licensed to Microsoft for inclusion with MS-DOS 6.

Gee, I thought Memmaker just reconfigured the config.sys and autoexec.bat . What new features could this expanded version offer? Better integration with Cloaking?

Exactly. It includes a number of cloaked utilities: screen saver, disk cache, screen accelerator, virus protection, DPMI, RAM drive, cloaked system BIOS, and cloaked video BIOS. It also has improved versions of some of the programs and utilities in MS-DOS like a replacement for DOS STACKS and a number of special memory programs for loading/manipulating items in UMBs, Extended Memory and Expanded Memory. The DISCOVER utility provides memory analysis.

Did Hurricane run under Windows 3.1?

If so it was able to increase GDI and stack memory which made Windows more stable
