Hi i am trying to put togather an old p1 config.. i needed the soundcard for my 486 rig so i took it out, but as i went trough my stuff i found this card.. as far i can see it is a 56k modem, but than i noticed the line in and mic out jacks on it... so i wonder is this a sound card as well? Also how could i identify the card to look up for its driver on the web? i would need a win 98 driver for it..

It's a "voice modem" meaning you can do telephony stuff through the PC, like answer calls with headset, setup a voice mailbox etc.

... it's more like half a souncard, no music synthesis or midi sound bank, just digitised sound, probably mono.

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

ohh so theres no point to put that in my build.. it aint gonna work with games..

Yeah, no point for current build.

It does look like it has one tiny special talent though which may come in useful on some older motherboards. It appears to have a 3.3V regulator bottom right... and in the long string of ifs, if you have a PCI card that can't run on 5V and if you have a motherboard that doesn't provide 3.3V for it, and if it doesn't use too much current, and if the 3.3V lines of the PCI bus are connected to each slot even though there's nothing supplying them, then this card put in alongside the other card might backfeed 3.3V and power it.
