Hello Vogons!
In short, I'm not seeing a great performance improvement on 3DMark2000 comparing a single Voodoo2 versus two Voodoo2 in SLI.
My system is a VIA C3 Nehemiah 1.2GHz, 392MB RAM, Geforce3 as primary display.
The Voodoo2 are a matched pair of Creative CT6670 with 12MB each.
With this CPU there are no K6/3dnow optimizations, nor Pentium III ones. It's just "D3D Software T&L optimizations".
The drivers I'm using are the latest official ones: 3dfx Voodoo2 V3.02.02
Tested one single Voodoo2 card, the score was 1861 at 800x600, 16bit, Triple FB.
Tested the other Voodoo2 card putting it in place of the first one, so only this Voodoo2 was present. The score was 1859 at 800x600, 16bit, Triple FB.
Get both Voodoo2 cards in the system, connected the SLI bridge, the display properties on the 3dfx tab indicate that the Scanline interleave is detected. FBI revision 4, FB memory 8MB, two TMUs, TMU revision 4, Total Texture Memory: 16MB.
Now 3DMark2000 allows me to select 1024x768x16. In any case I tested on 800x600, 16bit, Triple FB; to match what I did with the single cards.
The score bumps up to 2013.
Not sure what to expect, but it seems kind of a small improvement for all the trouble...
I guess it's the test I'm running that is not very representative? Perhaps those Software T&L optimizations are hurting?
In 1024x768x16 I've got 1955 points
Finally, I tried with the "FastVoodoo2-v4.6" drivers, the score in SLI at 800x600x16 was 1611.
Thoughts?
Thanks!
