No idea why the tool doesn't work with the ref driver, but someone back then combined the two in one package and it works.

Run setup.exe to install the tool but after that you might have to install the driver manually from device manager.

No luck , same error "desk.cpl"

It works here. I don't think it'd work after you've already installed other 3dfx stuff. Try a clean install.

Clean windows98 install fix it. But im curious why official drivers not work..

Actually, 3dfx tools are intended for V3 and higher, so the problem with the ref banshee driver is probably normal.

Banshee drivers do have their own simpler, built-in control panel but for some unknown reason it simply doesn't work in driver 1.04. Previous versions do.
