Hi @ all!
I'm working on a hardware Buffer overlow fix for the Rev.0 Roland MT-32.
The Project is finished over 70% (and is mostly working), and i add a second Mode (GMidi)
to it.
stay tuned.

Hi there! Looks very well done, very tidy. Kudos! 😎
In fact, I can't think of any improvement. Except maybe adding diodes against reverse polarity (TTL MIDI signals?) and an extra protection diode for the 7805.
Because, mistakes happen all the time.
But that's just an analog, generic thing, of course. The project itself is unaffected.

Hi Jo22.
This is of course worth considering, but you have to know that this is a beta board 😉.
That's why there is also a bypass mode for the signals... in the final version there is "Normal and GMidi" mode.
best regards

oh wow!!!
this is truly amazing Paddy! and a very original idea too - I never thought this would be possible
eagerly awaiting for release , I have a couple MT-32s and I will be definitely installing the fix in them!
Awesome. Looking forward to it.

Pretty cool! Keeping an eye on this. Would be cool if you sold it as a kit so I could have some fun soldering it all together.
I always thought that the original MT-32s were more desirable because of the overflow? Something about certain sound effects not playing correctly on the later models where this has been fixed.
I had this thought tonight and wondered if it was possible. Thanks for answering the question! Any progress with this?

You are talking about digital overflow, which is in DAC design. This fix is about MIDI messages overflow, which can be fixed with software resident utility.
