Hi, CM97/98 runs too slow on DosBox, I've already done a search about it. I see people suggesting CTRL + F12, however this does nothing for me. I already have core=dynamic, and my PC has 1.5 GB RAM and 3 GHZ. Is this game simply too heavy for DosBox to run properly and should I give up on it?

Thanks in advance.

depends on your cpu architecture, OS and dosbox version

What is CPU architecture? Anything to change?

OS = Windows XP sp2

Dosbox = 0.72

What is CPU architecture?

x86 in your case, and no, you can't change that with some configuration setting.

I don't know that game, so if it runs slow with core=dynamic and
cycles=max you're out of luck.

Possible to use upper memory to increase performance on this game?

Yes, also use a ramdrive program to use the extra memory on your video card to store the game.

DosFreak was being sarcastic. Don't try this. Try core=dynamic and ALT-F12 in DOSBox instead.

Just a bit surprising that the game is faster on a 350mhz computer with DOS, rather than a dual core computer with vista +dosbox. Have set core to dynamic. alt + f12 didn't make much impact.

nah. emulation is heavy and CM97/98 is for some reason really heavy.

for 350 mghz you will need something like a 5-7 GHZ machine to emulate it at that sped

Quite a coincidence, my topic got bumped. I don't really think it's the MHZ, it came out in 1997 and requires about the same system that Carmageddon and Duke Nukem 3d needed around the time. Those run perfectly fine on DosBox. The problem must be the memory.
