I love the game Wasteland, and I am sure I am not alone. I wondered, however, what the game would have looked like for those people who did not have 16-color EGA or Tandy computers back in the day. The versions of Wasteland that float around these days are from the CD compliations that include a pre-installed EGA version.

With some diligent searching, I found a rip of the disk version, which came on two disks. This version shows that Wasteland supported CGA and Tandy graphics, and also had a separate install option for composite color CGA graphics. Since I nor anyone else in the past 20 years has ever seen what the CGA graphics looked like, I took a few screenshots for people to look at:

Wasteland looks like the old kind of RPG games, that had the same charm as the old SSI RPG games had, and the same goes about the Bards Tale games. Aka. the FRUA like engine 😀

It's on the Interplay 10th anniversary CD. It has PC speaker sound only and the sound does work in DOSBox -X. It sounds better in DOSBox -X than it does in DOSBox.
