What you show in the photos is not SOM304RD52VINE1 and that's where I would see the problem. SOM304RD52VINE1 looks like this and as you can see there are many different things. Which SOM did you buy?

I ordered it from an online shop in China.

1. I need to know exactly what SOM you have (you can find out from the order)
2. Take a picture of the back of the weecee board you are using

If I don't have this information I can't help you. Right, you should have this SOM https://icop-shop.com/product/som304rd52vine1/

I hacked the dxsetup32.dll file earlier so it won't bug you about incompatible CPU anymore.
You should be able to install DirectX 9.0c on the weecee using it.

Re: DirectX 9 setup - mod to skip CPU check?

Could you provide a link to the exact DirectX 9.0c installer that you used? There seems to be several "revisions" for 9.0c. Your patched DLL doesn't work with a couple of these ones below.

Hi!
I need help with my SD card not being recognised.

20231104_152445.jpg

Unfortunately, I got two that had Nand Flash attached to them.
Fortunately, the information here said I only needed to remove one resistor, so I removed it.

20231104_152515.jpg

But it doesn't recognize the SD card.

20231104_153007 copy.jpg

As you can see in the picture, it gets stuck on the boot screen for a while and eventually fails to recognize it.

20231104_152830.jpg

I have two vortex86's and as a test, I removed the NAND flash from one of the boards.

But still the same, it wouldn't recognize the SD card.

20231104_152503.jpg

One thing that changed when I removed the Nand Flash is that the IDE LEDs that used to blink hard on boot no longer blink.

Apart from this symptom, the rest of the symptoms are the same as those of the SD card not being recognised by other cards with a NAND flash.

I suspected it was a fault in the base motherboard, so I built another base motherboard and tested it.

I also tested the SD card, switching between 2GB, 4GB, 8GB and 16GB Samsung SanDisks.

However, I still have the same problem.

I'm looking for help from anyone who can give me a clue, even a small hint.

Thanks as always.

I am still struggling to resolve the issue of the microSD card not being recognized.

No matter how much I try this and that with my limited knowledge, the issue does not seem to be resolved.

Could it be that the SD card is not being recognized due to an issue with the board itself?

Is there anyone who can advise me on the SD card recognition issue, either from a hardware or software perspective?

Your small attention would be of great help to me.

To add to that, if I boot from a USB drive, the sound card and games run fine!

Thanks!

I had a similar issue with mine, it ended up being the soldering on the microSD card slot itself. I would suggest reflowing those joints and maybe even check your resistors on the bottom side. the signals are very sensitive so I would verify that everything is making good contact.
Once I sorted that out with mine it detected the SD card pretty much immediately.

I don't suppose anyone has the project files for this that can be loaded up in KiCad do they?
I was going to mess around with adding an RTC battery to the board itself as well as look into adding a MAX16054 on/off controller so it can use a SPST switch. I hacked on a latching toggle switch by cutting the trace coming in on the 5v line just before the fuse and wiring the other end to the other side, but I think there's probably enough room to get something more proper on it.
I'm by no means a pro but I think I can figure it out based on some of the other projects I've built using that same MAX16054 chip.
I may also look into switching the micro-USB to USB-C since I prefer it, but I don't want to get too ahead of myself.

If anyone has anything let me know!

Just looking at this I noticed you have a couple of damaged pins on the SOM. Pins 75 and 76 on the A header, 2 and 21 on the B header and 7 and 9 on the D header. it could just be the lighting or the angle but 7 and 9 on the D header are IDE pins so that very well could be your issue. May want to double check that. It's likely if you're careful, you can bend them back, but it would seem very likely to be related to the issue you're having.

I've been wavering about getting either one of these or a TinyLlama for ages. Yesterday I got as far as submitting a quote request for with PCBWay (with assembly of the SMD passives etc) using the community files. I also got a quote for the SOM module from the UK supplier recommended earlier in the thread.

Of course I'd forgotten about the 5 PCB minimum order from PCBWay.

Has anyone else in the UK got some spare PCBs from a similar order that they'd be willing to sell?

Or if I went ahead and ordered some fresh PCBs, would anyone else in the UK like one?

Thank you for your interest, although my reply is late.
After testing with a tester, I found no issues with the connection pin.
I believe the problem is related to the hardware, possibly the BIOS or the Vortex86DX chip itself.
However, I cannot say for certain as I lack in-depth knowledge of hardware.

Fortunately, I may be able to procure a SOM304 board similar to the one shown in the image above.
However, I haven't been able to find any information on the pin arrangement for the SOM304 module used on this particular board.
While there is ample documentation in PDF format about the motherboard that utilized this SOM304 CPU module, there are no specifics provided about the module itself.

Does anyone have information regarding the pin arrangement for the Vortex86DX2 SOM304 CPU module?
In my opinion, it likely has the same pin layout as the DX3 boards that others have previously shared details about.

In that case, unfortunately I will not be able to utilize the WeeCee project on this particular board.

I'm hoping that the pin arrangement on the SOM304 board would be identical to the one used for the WeeCee project.

Japaneese version of the datasheet is a bit more informative, but no pinout information either.

I noticed that the WeeCee schematic and PCB files are only available as CircuitMaker files. Is it possible for you to share these files so that I can import them into a legacy copy of CircuitMaker that I managed to download. CircuitMaker is no longer available (I tried to get the download link 15 minutes ago, but the link sent to me by Altium is dead). If you can share these files, I can then open them in Altium Designer and then KiCad 8.04 and make the files available. Is this OK? Thanks.

Yeah I'll try to export them.

Allright here ya go - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BNNEfwLZogg5 … iew?usp=sharing

You can import them directly to Altium Designer.
