I'm currently trying to get Terminal Velocity to run under DOS 6.22 with a Virge DX but I've hit a roadblock.

I know the game needs some work to get running in S3D mode with anything but the original Virge but I'm not having any luck. I'm using the registered version of TV ver. 1.2 and I did install the S3 Virge patch. I'm also running the S3DRUN wrapper but no luck

If I attempt to use the wrapper to run the TV.EXE file it tells me I need to run SETUP which I have. no matter how many times I run and save the setup I always get this message.

If I attempt to use the wrapper with the Game.EXE file I get a
"Performing heap check...Heap is ok
ERROR : Unable to open VGA palette"

Not sure what I'm doing wrong here.

TV plus newer Virges can be a PITA to get running. You definitely need to use something like "S3DRUN TV.EXE", not game.exe. You also need to select a sound driver with SETD.EXE, maybe that's why TV complains about running SETUP. Or the game is not installed properly.
There are several versions of the wrapper floating around, not all of them work, especially with the AGP GX2. The version I use for the GX2 has a version number of 4.07.01 in the s3srvr.exe.

Unfortunately I got the same setup issue when using SETD.EXE.

Are you running it under pure DOS or through Windows?

Pure DOS. Does the software renderer version work?

I didn't think you could run in software mode after applying the Virge patch. All I get is a "Virge not detected" if I try to run the Game.EXE or TV.EXE, which I'm guessing is due to it being a DX.

You can simply copy back the original GAME.EXE file to restore software mode.

does S3DRUN have to be run from the same directory as the game? I have mine in a separate directory so it is something like C:\S3DRUN> S3DRUN C:\TV\TV.EXE

I don't think so, but S3DRUN, S3DSRVR and DOS4GW need to be in one of the %PATH% directories then. You need to call TV.EXE from its install directory though. I normally copy all the S3D* stuff into the game directory for simplicity.

I got it to work. I had to run the S3DRUN on the actual setup file, then setup the sound card and from the setup, select the "save and launch TV" option.
