I just picked up a TC430HX motherboard which includes both the Yamaha YMF701 and YMF704 audio chips. I am unable to get any General Midi audio output. I am running DOS 6.22 and Windows 3.11. The FM and Sound Blaster audio functions are good, but I get no sound when trying to play through the MPU-401 interface at I/O address 330. I am configuring the audio interface for DOS the using SETUPSA.exe utility. I have Plug-n-Play turned off in the BIOS setup. I also get the same thing in Windows 3.11. I am using the latest Windows 3.x OPL3-Sax driver driver from Yamaha. I am wondering if I am using the wrong driver and if so, which one should I be using? Any help would be appreciated.

I got the Windows 3.11 General Midi working, but still no luck on MS-DOS. Turns out the Software Midi option in the Midi mapper is actually the onboard Wavetable synthesizer. Getting closer anyway.

I ended up switching to Windows 98 Second Edition and just use the DOS MPU-401 support to access the Wavetable Midi in DOS games. Not what I wanted to do, but it works just fine for my needs.
