I've been trying to get the software mode of Jedi Knight to work more reliably on my Geforce2 mx. Are there any downsides to turning off hardware acceleration for the graphics card to achieve this?

Well...it will significantly decrease speed, as hardware is usually faster than software at performing number-crunching. Other than that, I wouldn't know, as I'm not an expert.

nVidia cards hate palette changes in accelerated DirectDraw surfaces, so for 8bpp gaming i'd probably use any other non-nvidia card. Not sure if JK has a dib fallback switch
