I've also used DDOs with the sintechi adapters.
what they dont do well, (or at all...) is 48bit LBA.

I found some additional info about that. This guy looked at the supported ata feature list using HD Tune Pro 5.5:

Testing with the 32GB Toshiba Exceria card installed reveals that the drive advertises only the SMART feature with no other capabilities. Note the lack of 48-bit address capability which could be a problem with cards larger than 128GB. As I don’t have any of these cards on hand, I couldn’t confirm if 48-bit LBA is supported. TRIM is also not supported, although as far as I’m aware, only some eMMC devices are able to utilise this. The converter advertises UDMA5 (100MB/s) capability and indeed has linked at the promised rate via an 80-conductor IDE cable. It does claim an 8KB buffer … very small, perhaps implemented in internal RAM?

why is 64gb an issue vs 32gb?
just tried with a 32gb card and it's the exact same issue.
Remember when Pentium was still current the hard drive sizes were up to 8-10GB. Any larger weren't supported. I'd recommend some other EIDE controler like Promise Ultra PCI series.
