I've been reading a lot of tutorials on getting original game resolutions out of Retroarch by using CRT Switchres and CRTEmudriver with an HD 5450 as a secondary graphics card, outputting lower resolutions through the VGA and then through a SCART and component to a normal TV monitor.
What I'm trying to figure out is whether or not it's possible to do this with DOSBox-Pure and an SVGA CRT as well.
I have an HP vx74 which I have hooked up to a computer running FreeDOS, and text mode is correctly displayed in the original 720x400 - the monitor even says as much when the options button is pressed. Although I haven't yet followed the steps for creating custom resolutions with Emudriver, I've been trying to see if I can force that resolution through windows using alternative methods (CRU, directly editing DALNonStandardModes files in the registry) and so far I haven't been able to get anything to stick.
My real question right now is if I am able to get that resolution available, will either DOSBox and/or DOSBox-Pure through Retroarch be able to properly display text-mode on it? With a resolution of 640x480, the interpolation looks downright awful when using aspect-ratio correction (it doesn't even look great on 320x200 games) and higher resolutions lose too much clarity.
Has anyone had success with this kind of thing?
