Hey Guys,
Ive scoured the forums but cant find enough information to get the midi wavetable working on my Aztech Waverider 32 plus in dos games launched in windows directly.
It works fine in DOS after loading Wavetide.exe which I gather is the TSR which routes the MPU-401 to the wavetable. And under windows installing the windows software as instructed in azwr32p.txt which it "configures the WaveTide Wavetable synthesizer in Windows '95" which works when playing midi files in windows itself using winamp or the built in midi player after selecting the wavetide midi synthesizer in control panel>multimedia>midi output. And that's where my problem starts. Dos Games launched from windows 95 will not find the general midi device and can not detect MPU-401; duke nukem, warcraft 2 etc.
I have tried restarting in msdos mode and loading the TSR, and loading windows from there and then games detect the MPU-401 device but there is no sound output. I have also tried the config.exe utility in msdos mode and enabling mpu-401 then booting to windows and then games detect the MPU-401 but no sound output; i suspect doing this enables mpu-401 on the game port bypassing the onboard midi. I just cant figure out how to have the card route mpu-401 to the onboard wavetable in dos games under windows
Any suggestions would be appreciated
Sam
