Hi,

for reasons, I am currently looking for an 8086 mainboard which fits (Baby) AT cases. I did an extensive research, but all I found were tons of 8088/V20 mainboards ("Turbo XT") out there, but that is not what I am looking for, I want a real 8086.

Has there ever been an 8086 mainboard which was retrofitted to the AT form factor? Can someone recommend a model which may show up every once in a while at the usual places?

Best regards

Why not hook it up to a KVM switch?

Juko NEST N3 supports both 8086 and V30.

Thank you for the suggestion, that looks very promising! I like the fact that the CPU frequency can be changed hardware and software wise. Would be interesting how this affects hard disk performance based on the selected interleave.

I've seen a couple of TurboXTs in action, they turn off turbo during floppy disk accesses. I guess for access timing as you mentioned.

Turbo XT 12MHz, 8-bit VGA, Dual 360K drives
Intel 386 DX-33, Speedstar 24X, SB 1.5, 1x CD
Intel 486 DX2-66, CL5428 VLB, SBPro 2, 2x CD
Intel Pentium 90, Matrox Millenium 2, SB16, 4x CD
HP Z400, Xeon 3.46GHz, YMF-744, Voodoo3, RTX2080Ti

Unfortunately this nice piece of hardware did not show up wherever I was searching for it for half a year know. If anyone had a tip for me where to look for it, that would be great!

I have only seen one for sale in the last 5 years on eBay which I bought at a very steep price. I don't regret doing it as this seems to be one rare motherboard. Juko ST 12MHz motherboards are much more common, but those are only a NEC V20. You may have better luck on Amibay or Yahoo Auctions Japan.

Thank you for your suggestions! I will include this in my search.

Yeah, the Juko ST and especially all the other Turbo XT boards are quite common, you can find a new offer about every week, but they are no "real" 8086 boards in my sense unfortunately.

Have a look at this as a possibility for a modern 8086 computer:

You may also want to consider looking for Epson Equity Ie as it was known in the US or Epson PSE-30 in Europe. This is a 10MHz 8086 computer of which I have the Ie version. Very fast computer, just a slight bit slower than the Juko Nest N3.

Looks like a Juko NEST N3 has been sold in February on eBay. These search agents are working great... not.
