Calm down, calm down, I'm not bringing news of something new and innovative, I'm creating the topic to discuss the outline of a notebook such as the Pocket8086, completely open, as cheap as possible, but which still meets people's desires.

What processor should it have? What "retro" level is the sweet spot for 90s games? I mean, I imagine something that runs MS-DOS games like Duke Nukem 3D, and slightly demanding games like Carmaggedon 3DFX, NFS HP...

From there, which method should be used, a low budget and energy consuming CPU, but still in production, such as via c7 (not in production but just using as an example), or FPGA? Maybe even an ARM chip that is capable of running all of this?

I would like people to participate in this topic to help in the creation of this project, I imagine the development of just a PCB small enough to fit even a 7" screen, but that the user can order all the parts and do it at home like pCBway or something like that, then design some case models from 7 to 17 inches, so the user can choose exactly which color and size they want.

Why not save an old laptop instead of using a new lappy: Vinegar is one of the problems. LCD screens usually deteriorate after 20 years, they will deteriorate at some point. In some cases, this flows to the FL inverter, or to the motherboard, causing a short. 4:3 displays are rare and expensive nowadays, especially in sizes like 11, 12 or 13 inches. Add this to the excessive heat generated by an old warrior, which, in addition to being uncomfortable, will eventually worsen the situation with the 20-year-old plastics around it. Many of these notebooks do not have an electrical diagram available on the internet, or parts to buy, so maintaining them is becoming more difficult every day, and in a short time, they will stop being just a silly hobby, and become a business venture. long term, such as cars from the 1950s, in which the owner avoids using it so that it doesn't break down, due to its high value.
