I have a FIC PA-2005 board, which has two unpopulated places for extra cache RAM (it has 2x 12bkB on board).
Can I just solder 2 more of the same as the existing RAM chips to the board for 512kB cache in total?

The amount of installed cache must be supported by the TAG (the small chip on the bottom right of the VT82C580VP chip).

FIC PA-2005 motherboard(v1.3) (non-user cache upgrade)

After watching many YouTube videos about older computer hardware, YouTube began recommending videos about trains - are they trying to tell me something?

Note quite.
For 2MB L2 cache you would need 512K TAG-RAM, therefore a 32-pin TAG chip needs to be present. The PA-2005 is wired for 28-pin chips only. So the upper limit is 1MB L2 and 256K TAG. I haven´t seen a PA-2005 with just 64K or 128K TAG so far.

Majestyk, can I ask you where you got the 64K x32 chips from? I tried to find the exact type that you used, but couldn't find them for sale anywhere.
