Hello fellow Vogons,

since now I've used a 32GB Transcend CF successfully in my DOS machine.

Mainboard: Asus P5A (newest BIOS installed)
CF-IDE adapter: https://www.startech.com/de-de/hdd/35baycf2ide

Now I want to switch over to a Sandisk 128GB CF card.
What I've read the Asus P5A should be compatible with 128GB IDE drives.

The Auto detection feature recognizes the CF as 32GB drive.
I changed mode from normal to LBA to Large. No success. It always is detected as 32GB.
Experimenting with CHS values I have no luck.
This always throws me a "Hard drive not detected" error message during post.

Can anybody help?

Check mainboard firmware version.

Is your BIOS patched for larger drive support? If not, then that’s the problem. You can either Google 128GB support with your motherboard type and it should find it, or figure out how to patch it yourself with a BIOS mod tool.

It should support 128GB by default.

It surely doesn't say "newest bios" but some ID number/string? 😉

It's version "1011.005 Beta". Last BIOS released by ASUS.

I got it working 😀
Attached are the settings that work for me.
Now the CF is recognized as 128GB.
