Hi! I need to restart my Win98SE computer using a DOS boot floppy in order to run most DOS programs, as I can't get UMBs or EMS in Windows mode at all. The only time I got UMBs at all was when both dblspace and drvspace in MSDOS.SYS were enabled, but then, DriveSpace ate DOS memory, and I couldn't run DOS programs anyway. One problem with DOS mode is the sound: I can't get my sound card to work. Once, I got a DOS-based emulator to work with sound in Windows mode, and IIRC, the settings were SBPro, IRQ 5 and DMA1. How do I specify these settings in the DOS BLASTER variable?

I just tried a couple BLASTER settings, and the one emulator I tested didn't play any sound. I think I need an SB emulator. I want to look at the Windows sound driver later today but first need to have lunch.

I tried driverguide.com using the driver name then adding DOS then MS DOS then emulator and didn't find a DOS-based driver. Is there anywhere else I can look?

I Googled and found some information but not the files I need. 🙁 Everything I add "DOS" to the search, I get a lot of hits but modtly for Windows 10 or 11: I don't even see "DOS" in the hits. 🙁 I'll continue searching.

Ok this seems to be a PCI based sound device.
And I thought you just were missing the BLASTER string for a legacy sound device...
