The game only plays intro song on old tandy hardware and if it detects an adlib card (source: game manual).
But I'd like to test the cm8330 opl, is it possible to fool the game and make it play the song on such hardware?

What CPU are you running that game on?
Kings of the Beach is from 1989 - can't expect it to run very well above 386.

Tried it on Celeron 266, with ES1869 - indeed, no Adlib sound.
Solution: disable cache.
