Does anyone know if the Athlon XP PCB color means something?
People referred to them as "green barton" and "brown barton" like they were rare pokemons or something.
Never knew if there was something to it or ultimately if the PCB color meant nothing.

I'm interested in this too.

Apparently it depends on the fab.

According to what people said on the internet years ago (various forums), the newer ones were made in Dresden, and they are green.

When you bought them on a tray you always got the same colour CPU. They were never mixed when you bought in bulk. But it wasnt uncommon to get mixed when you bought low quantities... <-25
All the retail packaged CPUs I saw were always the green ones (which isnt to say the brown ones didnt come in retail packages I just never saw one)

The plot thiccckens. I wonder if this can be solved now, or if it's too late to find enough information. Maybe I can try to train AI to find the pattern between the color and the product series, eheh.

Btw, today I scored my first brown Barton. Weirdly this is the first time I own one. from my experience green is way more popular. I've had a bunch of Bartons from 2400 to 3000 and all were/are green.
