Excellent build and modifications! Almost totally period correct and nicely done.
If one of my 486s had been a bit more tidy inside I would have done the same thing to it even though I'm not a big fan of windows on cases.

🤣! This is a crazy build and I love it! Very much a through-back look. Very similar to my first PC case mod back in the day when I simply cut a large hole in the case side and bolted on some plexiglass just like that!
The multiple sound cards are interesting. Why not, right? I went a similar route but with multiple systems. Pentium + 486 in the same case just because I want to play some really old DOS games! MT-32 Pi is awesome also! I've only recently been playing with that.

Spire on the other hand... well, as far as I recall, they didn't build *any* PSUs. They just slapped their label on various OEM and non-OEM vendors' units. While the quality of their CPU coolers was pretty good, their PSUs varied between OK/good and kinda-lame. IIRC, I saw at least one Spire PSU with Solytech/Deer/Allied internals (which is a so-so PSU manufacturer, though they do use cheapo quality electrolytic capacitors.)
I've opened a bunch of Spire units and so far none were Deer. The cheapest were Kissquiet and Yuelin, the mid range was iMicro (aka yx-gp), and the high end I'be had was Topower.

Of note that not all Chieftecs used Sirtec. Most of their units were Delta\Newton Power, but not always, evidenced by your photo.
