Hi I have a gforce 4 mx 440 with nvidia drivers v77 installed.

What happens if I change it for a gforce 3 ti 200?

Will I have problems with the drivers or the OS? or will it be detected by the drivers and work normally?

And what if I switch it with a Voodoo 3 3000? can I simply install the voodoo drivers or do I need to uninstall the nvidia drivers? how to uninstall drivers perfectly without breaking the OS?

Finally... what If i wanna keep using the gforce 4 but I wanna switch just the drivers to test it with older drivers? how to cleanly uninstall them to install the old ones?

Thanks

Why don't you try it and see what happens? It's not that complicated.

Most likely, when you switch cards, win98 will try to install drivers for the new card. Either those already present or ask for new ones.

But I have read that the best is to do a clean of the old drivers and I dont know how to do that.

driver cleaner pro is the standard answer for that. works fine usually, but i will say one time it did mess up a windows installation of mine - don't remember the specifics, but making a backup before using the tool may be a good idea if you don't want to reinstall windows.

Since you are installing one nVidia card with another there shouldn't be an issue, as you are downgrading a single generation the drivers should support both cards.
Will go through a detect new Hardware cycle though.

However, changing brands in your example, from nVidia to 3dfx, best practice is to first uninstall the nVidia drivers, going back to the default windows VGA video card drivers.
Then install the new card, and it's drivers.

For Win98, the point is that the install is in the correct order, then the last DX9.0C+UOSP SETUP, followed by late drivers and moddos that correspond to the given hardware. If this is the problem solved, with the video card replacement, and there are several different video cards side by side without problems.

And if it is well installed above, then Ryzen is atomic stable 98.
