If you make versions of your configs where you add UMBs but not EMS by adding NOEMS to the EMM386 or QEMM command line, you should gain 64k UMBs where you used to have the EMS frame and decrease slightly the EMM's footprint. BTW, I remember hearing that QEMM cost you some memory. Is this true? If so, did you add "I=B000-B7FF" to the QEMM command line then try Stealth mode? Both should've helped.
