Hi, my problem is that I tried to run a Pentium MMX 233 processor on a Shuttle HOT-541 motherboard without an additional VRM, and to my surprise, the processor runs very slowly (Speedsys ~18) and has issues executing MMX instructions. The processor works fine on another socket 7 motherboard, with Speedsys showing ~178, and it passes the entire MMX module memory test. A P54C 200 processor works correctly on this motherboard. Additionally, the P55C cannot be set to a multiplier higher than 2.5, but I think I can solve this issue. I found information about the need to solder a resistor between 2 pins of the CPU socket on this motherboard. The BIOS is updated and recognizes the processor as MMX. What could be the cause?

Is cache enabled? If the mobo is not supposed to run with this CPU good chances are BIOS might not recognize it - and do weird things.
