Hello to everyone,
I'm trying to fix an Asus P/I-P55T2P4 motherboard. When I got it, the Dallas DS12887A device was (phisically) damaged (I suppose someone tried to open it).
After power on I had no video signal (only KB led flashes one time as usual).
I plugged my pc analyzer card in a PCI slot and the last code was 07 (that for Award BIOS means "Verify CMOS is working correctly. Detects bad battery".
I desoldered the Dallas and replaced it by a "Necroware nwX287" (that I got from an other working MB).
No way, motherboard still stuck on 07 error code. No video signal, no working keyboard, no beeps at all.
Going back the previous codes on the analyzer card I can see that a lot of operation (as RAM check and many BIOS initializations) are performed successfully. This explain because using bad RAM modules I can hear beeps.
I already tried to:
- Replace CPU (P75)
- Replace RAM modules (with no RAM or using incompatible (?) modules I can hear long beeps at startup)
- Tried with both ISA and PCI VGA card
- Replace / update BIOS IC
- Use an original Dallas DS12887A from a NOS
Any idea? Thank you!
Andrea
