Ello! So I'm in a pickle and don't know what I should do. I have my C2D E6600 in my XP machine right now and I'm wondering if an upgrade to the E8600 would improve anything. It's between buying the cpu and buying some more games to add to the collection. Is the E8600 that much of an upgrade over my current CPU? Thanks guys!

The E8600 operates at 3.33ghz rather than 2.40ghz, has a higher bus speed 333mhz vs 266mhz, is a newer 45nm process, operates at a lower voltsge and has the same TDP. It performs around 50% faster.

Considering they are abundantly available and from the well known auction site I can obtain one for £9 inc shipping on the slow boat from China it's an absolute no brainer, upgrade!

The only thing you have to check is that your motherboard supports the newer CPU.
