Heyyyyyo,
I tried to install a Sound Blaster Live! card in my Dell Dimension L1000R with Windows o8 SE recently. I found out that the card was damaged and reinstalled my original sound card, a PCI 128. It worked fine. The next time I powered on the pc though, the pc speaker beeped three times in quick succession then two times a few seconds later. I removed the card but nothing changed. Can anyone tell me what the hell is going on?
Thanks

Do you have the four (A, B, C, D) diagnostic LEDS on the back of the PC?

If so, this PDF has a chart to decode them: https://dl.dell.com/manuals/all-products/esup … guide_en-us.pdf

This page has general Dell beep codes: https://www.dell.com/community/en/conversatio … 4ccf8a8de5b8361

3-1-1 is Slave DMA failure (eg loose drive connector). But these codes may be too new.

No diagnostic LEDs. I'll check the beep codes.

Perhaps the BIOS updated its plug and play enumeration of legacy devices?
