I've bought an MPMan F20 MP3 player, one of the very first players on the market. The troubles that I'm having, is that I would like to format the device and transfer new MP3s to test, but frankly the box didn't come with the parallel port transfer cable.

Are there any schematics so that I could build my own, or is there a cable that I can buy relatively easy?

I don't see how you can build one, apart from the pinout (it uses a standard DB25 for the PC parallel port -> 18 pins) the connector on the player side also looks proprietary. I'd say your best chance is trying to find the original cable, but hopefully someone proves me wrong.

I believe it used the same cables as to what Samsung had, as well as some other early MP3 players.

Everything I've found suggests that it used a 25 to 18 pin parallel cable, and this ebay photo shows the cable. Did you research it and your findings are different?

I did some research into this, and I might be wrong, but a former Samsung employee supposedly worked for Saehan after he left to work on the MPMan. Noticed that some Samsung MP3 players used the same 18-pin connector.
