Hey there, I recently picked up a Tandy 1000A that was pretty much stock, 1 5.25" floppy drive and nothing else. I've been trying to get a 3.5" floppy drive OR a Gotek to work just for ease of access and not having to use 5.25" floppies. I've ran into a few issues with this though:

3.5" floppy drive
Does the twist in the floppy cable matter if I was to take out the 5.25" drive and replace them with the 3.5 and Gotek emulator? Or even just only have 1 drive? I'm seeing all sorts of literature and videos online for newer models but none for the original Tandy. Maybe I'm just confused. My next idea is just to buy some of those 34 pin to edge connector adapters on ebay and try to use the original 2 edge connection cable that came with the Tandy.

MS-DOS Version
Does my version of MS-DOS have to do with having floppy drive issues? The only disk that came when I bought it was a DOS 2.11 boot disk. From what I have been reading, only DOS 3.3 and onward support 3.5 floppy disks.

Misc. Help
Does adding the math co-processor help with performance much?
Best way to add more RAM? Only rolling with the stock 128kb on the board
Is this all just a money pit and I should look for a 1000TX instead?
