I had an Awe64 Gold and Creative were running some type of promotion where every few days there was a new Soundfont to download. Of course I did just that, but never really used them and forgot about it. Cue a trip back to Cape Town last year to celebrate my dad's 80th and I used the opportunity to get some old CD Roms and stuff out of the cupboards to bring back with me.

I thought some of you may be interested in them as well. I can upload them to the Internet Archive of course, but thought the Vogons drivers library might be a good place as well. Any other places that might be of use to us retro nerds?

Just got an awe32. This is awesome! How much memory do most of them use up?

The biggest is 15MB.
26 are in the 2MB to 9MB range.
46 are around 1MB.
Then over 300 under 1MB.

I only have an AWE64 Value so can't test anything bigger than 512 kB on that, but my SB Live should be able to handle any of the other ones. I am interested to give a listen to what you found when you upload them! Did they come with MIDI files to show them off, too? I know that on one of the AWE discs there was a "Soundfont showcase" that would load a Soundfont and then play a MIDI file that took particular advantage of that sample set.

There are a couple of midi files yes and some text files which might help give some idea as to how this all happened. I will post a link tomorrow, google drive probably until we have a better, permanent place to store them.

I'm a Soundfont nerd, so I'm all for cataloging and archiving the old files for wide access, since they were not really all that accessible to begin with. One thing I've wanted to see is a new "Super GM" SF2 created from the old commercial files, as we can obviously use large SF files with today's systems and RAM based options.

I have a few medium and a few gigantic SF2/SBK. The medium is available for AWE32/8MB, some can only be charged to AWE64Gold+SimMConn/32MB (28MB real).

Gigantics require SBlive/Audigy/Xfi. There is also 100MB-1GB-2GB SF2.
Or CoolSoft_VirtualMidiSynth need it.

I'm happy to share it, but I don't really know if this kit is free or licensed? Is it allowed to link here?
