Hi
Can somebody inform me how to measure CPU supply voltage on Socket 370 without installed CPU? Supply voltage is somehow regulated when CPU is installed because it may be different for different models of CPU. I just replaced capacitors on one mobo and CPU is getting hot quickly so I would like to measure voltage but without CPU it is impossible and I don't want to burn my CPU. It would be good if I can cheat VRM to get any voltage.

We need to know the motherboard make + model to point you which inductor or Mosfet to measure from to ground. The VRM reads the VID from cpu (if not jumpers/switches) so it would be hard to fake with something else.
It only takes a few seconds to get a volt reading if you set things up proper (have meter ground in a black atx psu lead, have red lead touching proper point with one hand and push power on with other hand, etc)
added: as a estimate most P3 soc 370 coppermine run around 1.7v core and tualatin run about 1.5v core.

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

Place a piece of wire into the socket and connect Vid4&Vss - AK36&AM34 = 1.3V

Thank You. I started searching for socket 370 pinout to find where are these pins You wrote about and I found this:

So now I am sure that I have correct CPU supply.
