Hi guys. Recently changed my XP rig over from a Dimension 4600 to a Precision 690. Everything works great after a repair install and all proper chipset drivers etc, except for my Xtrememusic.
I've tried almost every DanielK support pack, pretty much every official driver release I can get my hands on, and Dell's official drivers for the Xtrememusic. I've also tried every PCI slot in the machine, cleared all drivers and rebooted before installing different ones, disabling unneeded integrated devices in bios, installing manually via device manager and just normal .exe.
I was able to get it to work... Once, and then on a reboot it didn't work again and reverted back to Multimedia Audio Device with a Code 10 error.
The most common result seems to be there just being a "Creative X-Fi Audio Processor (WDM)" with a Code 10 error, instead of what should be there, Multimedia Audio Device and "SB X-Fi". I was able to get that correct result one time like I described above out of maybe 100 attempts with various drivers and methods.
I thought it might have been the card, so I ordered a working sb0460 off eBay and, same issue. I'm pretty much at my wits end and I really need this card working on this machine. Any of you guys have any ideas?
