Phew... I was about )( that close... to buying a Chevy... truck...

... it sold though. Very crisp, very clean looking retiree owned Chevrolet Avalanche, lowish miles, but not too low miles if you know what I mean, where the rust film gets just thick enough to act like a handful of sand in all the moving parts if it only goes to church twice a month. So ran often enough and far enough to keep it just right. Was going for very little money, the same money as the inevitably shagged out rusted examples of the same year, couple of G notes basically. It wasn't widely advertised, so I was hoping it was gonna hang around until I ran through everything in my head a thousand times and either didn't want it, or very definitely did. I was thinking weekend warrior stuff, larger size travel trailer all loaded up with off grid capability. I wasn't under the delusion it was gonna be a reliable ride, but Chevy trucks can usually be fixed indefinitely, and being in deep Chevy territory even the knuckle dragginest shop knows what to do.

Is there any numbers for towing stuff? I think the Tesla Model 3 was top of the leaderboard there, and the Cybertruck didn't get that close.

At the other end of things though, with not a huge range, there is/was (last saw 3 days back) one of those Mitsubishi miEv things going cheap not too far away, wondering whether to get it to run around/screw around with. Fisher Price "My First Electric Car" playset and rolling science project 🤣

Those have some impressive range IIRC.

Getting 450-500 miles per charge.
Charges at 350kw.
Battery on 4wt version is 216kwh

Towing is rated at 10k lbs. but it could probably do a fair amount more if you were feeling squirrley. The truck has 225? Kw of regen, 8 lug wheels, 500 hp, weighs 8500 lbs. all wheel drive

I am aroused about any X86 motherboard that has full functional ISA slot. I think i have problem. Not really into that original (Turbo) XT,286,386 and CGA/EGA stuff. So just a DOS nut.
PS. If I upload RAR, it is a 16-bit DOS RAR Version 2.50.

I'd love to see that sort of range in a 40-50K sedan or hatchback. Some day, maybe.

There was something in tech news about super light manganese batteries, but they were going on about sodium the year before last and we haven't seen those yet. It's a bit like fusion power, since the 80s, read through a years Popular Mechanics and there's half a dozen revolutionary new battery technologies every damn year but only about one every couple of years gets anywhere and that's just to bump up things by 10% or something.

Anyhooooo, Toyota, Kia, Hyundai will sell you a hatchback on stilts and call it a compact SUV/CUV or something and they've got some all electrics near that price, but I guess they're only getting 300ish. I kinda worry less about range over a couple of hundred, but want something that would give you enough "get about your day tomorrow" range for am 8 hour overnight level 1 charge, and have some kind of super high power level 9 or something charge that you ain't getting a home charger for but can have you in and out in 15mins from a charge station. Preferably at a non-fancy coffee shop with a pisser you don't have to ask for the key for.

I had a couple of family in the 7th gen Civic and they drove around nice, but a 2005 up 8th gen, I drove one new off the lot and it was like being dragged down the road on a shovel, on maybe a wooden deckchair padded with a couple of layers of cardboard... put me off them big time, especially when the accent of the same year seemed to drive a lot nicer, have a lot better visibility etc, couldn't see crap out of the civic to sides and rear. So I haven't really been tempted to go anywhere near them since... though our local Honda dealer is an asshole, doesn't seem to like selling anything with less than a V6 so you can never see/test any.

They also have a huge turning radius, and the combination makes parking a pain in the ass.

Yes, that's the generation I drive. It's strangely easier to back into parking spots than to pull in forward.

I think the motoring journalists were trying to be generous when saying things like "Feels like driving a much bigger car", because yah, it was as awkward as a first gen Ford Fusion. IDK what they were trying to pull there, trying to sell the driver assists on top trim package by making the low end "need" them so much instead of being sensible design in first place.

We have a Hyundai EV, doesn't get quite 300 miles but then again it's rarely ever called upon to use even a quarter of that range in one day. So yes maybe high range numbers aren't all that important. It's just cool to think about for that once in 2 year trip that is further than that.

Maybe a used p100? Or used lucid?

I stopped buying used cars a long time ago. Too much uncertainty. And both our cars are too new to replace so I'm in no hurry 😀

Well, back in August I took and traded my Dodge Journey in on a 2023 Ford Ranger Lariat. Was a one person/company 1 year lease, I think mostly highway mileage. Had 38,895 KM's when I bought it. Had them install a trailer brake controller even though they didn't install the one I requested and they replaced the windshield and did a spray in bed liner for me. So far the truck has been awesome! I really like the adaptive cruise control. Of course, my drive is only about 4.5 KM to work so really don't use it that much. I also took and bought a 1997 Jayco pop up trailer as well!

that looks like a fiat 124, guessing it might be VAZ / Lada? that example look to be in great shape though
